Damn, nice! The reason the aliens don't care about their own lives is because they're:
1: Clones (even the ethereals. They're just clones who haven't been killed for 6000 years)
2: All part of a hivemind.
I'd just expect an experienced XCOM soldier to already know that, is all. Maybe she did and just couldn't tell her sister, but whatever.
